| Welcome
Hello and welcome to the second issue of the emedia-direct.com email newsletter. If you missed last week's newsletter it can still be viewed at www.emedia-direct.com/newsletter/issue1/ In this issue I have covered a serious problem that a lot of webmasters and eBook buyers and sellers have been faced with since Microsoft's release of Internet Explorer 7. Who knows what is going to happen when the new Window's Vista operating system comes out soon! I have also included another five free downloads as I intend to do each week. I would like to especially thank Dave Bromley of www.ukauctionline.co.uk and Reg Warden for their suggestions for this weeks free downloads. For a long time now I have been a subscriber to an eBay related newsletter by Brian McGregor of www.workwinners.com and this week I have pinched one of his ideas (hope you don't mind Brian). I have linked to some weird and wacky eBay listings. There is more to life than making money and sometimes it is good to take a break for a bit of fun. Hope you enjoy the links but if you a lacking in a sense of humour please do not click on the links. Whilst most are tasteful a few are a little on the rude side. It is not my intention to offend anyone. Whilst ebay will most likely always be the market leader of online auctions there are many other auction sites worth looking at. Most of these sites do not charge a basic listing fee meaning that if you don't sell you don't pay! A true win-win situation. If only eBay were to offer free listing. I can't see that happening anytime soon but we can dream can't we! If you have any ideas for the next newsletter please email me to let me know. One idea that has already been suggested is to have a questions and answers section. I think this is a great idea so if you have a question you would like to put to all the readers of this newsletter email it to me and I will place the question on the newsletter next week for members to answer. Then if all goes well the following week I will be able to place all the replies I have received to your question. This could become a great learning tool for us all but will only work if enough newsletter readers participate so please take part if you can find the time to email me with a question. Till next Friday, |

ARE YOU HAVING PROBLEMS SINCE UPGRADING TO INTERNET EXPLORER 7 ? If you have your own website or have created your own .EXE format eBooks and used frames when making it then you should check to see if they function properly for people using the new long awaited Internet Explorer 7. If you are an eBook buyer or seller you may be familiar with the problems that arose a while ago when Microsoft released a windows update called Service Pack 2. When that was released the security features of internet Explorer were enhanced resulting in many ebooks not working as they should. When clicking on a link within an eBook to switch to a new page a 404 error page would show telling the reader that the page could not be found. Well guess what? Good ol Bill Gates has dropped us in it again. The new IE7 has new security feature that have caused problems . This time it's worse though as it is not only effecting eBooks but 1000's of websites also! A lot of webmasters are up in arms at the prospect of having to redesign their whole website or advise visitors that they need to revert back to IE6 to view the website! I first became aware of the issue yesterday when one of my newsletter readers emailed me to say that one of the eBooks I had supplied them was not working. They were clicking on the links on the index of the eBook and the pages were not loading as explained above. I checked the eBook and sure enough I found the same problem. I checked some other ebooks and found many of them had the same problem. Luckily my websites did not seem to be affected and appeared to function properly. I was starting to sweat at the thought of all my eBook customers emailing asking for a refund because the eBook they bought from me did not work! That happened last time when Service Pack 2 was released. So I decided to put my private investigator's hat on and try to find out exactly what was causing the issue in the hope that there was some way of fixing the problem. I phoned Microsoft and they about as much use ash an ejector seat for a helicopter! They basically said that it was a compatibility issue between the software used to make the eBook and the new IE7. There only answer was to contact the author of the eBook asking for an updated version. Talk about passing the buck! After a lot of digging around on the Internet I found out what was causing the problem. The new default disabling of the “Navigate sub-frames across different domains” setting within IE7's security settings is causing the problem by affecting how frames within websites or ebooks are handled. If you are running IE7 and are experiencing the above problem here is a step by step solution. • Click on the "Start button". • Click on "Control Panel". • Double click on "Internet Options". • Click on the "security" tab at the top. • Click on "Custom Level" • Scroll down till you see the option called "Navigate sub-frames across different domain" (see below image).
• Change the setting to "enable" or "prompt". • Click on the ok button and agree to save the change. • Click on "apply" and then "ok".

onthewebtv.info Can you do the banana dance? Turn your speakers on for this! Unusual rock shaped like a smiling face. I just don't see it! Do you? If you think you have it bad please spare a thought for this poor guy. My heart goes out to him! eBay really shouldn't allow the sale of such dangerous flammable gases! Even Parcelfarce couldn't lose this delivery! SKIDMARK REMOVER clean them dirty underwear Can you believe that the postage on this listing is £3.95. It must be quite heavy! This is just disgusting! I think I'll drink pepsi in future.
Over the years I have seen many an auction site come and go. In some cases the shouts of "we'll be the next eBay" have hardly died down before you find that unfortunately the site has expired. What a refreshing change then to stumble across tazbar.com a newcomer to the international auction scene. After several years in the planning this site has definitely created a buzz since its launch on August 1st 2006.
CQout has been around since 1999 and describes itself as the second largest auction site in the UK. From the outset, the company has worked on a ‘no sale, no fee’ basis with no listing charges. CQout has grown through word of mouth, direct marketing and PR to create a business which has an excellent reputation amongst those that know of it, but which is not yet a household name.

EBay announced it has agreed to acquire privately held StubHub.com, a leading online marketplace for the resale of event tickets, for a whopping $310 million in cash. The acquisition will enable EBay to expand its presence and offerings in the online tickets segment. EBay said in a statement that it plans to let StubHub continue to scale its business with the e-commerce expertise and resources of EBay. "StubHub has been extremely successful in the online tickets segment, and it's a perfect complement to EBay’s tickets business," Bill Cobb, president, eBay North America Marketplaces, said in a statement. "Together we can strengthen both businesses and provide fans with more choice and better service." San Francisco-based StubHub was launched as an online marketplace for tickets in 2000. The company has partnered with sports teams in the NFL, NBA, NHL, leading NCAA athletic programs and media companies including AOL. "StubHub's business model is an excellent fit with eBay, a company we've admired for a long time," said Jeff Fluhr, founder and CEO of StubHub. "StubHub exists to serve passionate fans – and we feel great knowing our customers will benefit from the power of eBay and its community of users." The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2007, assuming it passes the approval of regulators and StubHub stockholders. What will EBay buy next I wonder?
