Updated Version of Turbo Lister

May 1st, 2007

This week eBay are releasing some great new features in Turbo Lister that should make things easier and save time for sellers.

Several of the key listing management functions previously found only in “My eBay” will be included within Turbo Lister, eliminating the need to jump back and forth between tools.

Highlights of the new features

View and Edit your Active and Scheduled Listings.

You can now view and edit your live and scheduled listings right from Turbo Lister. Simply make your desired changes within the tool, click on “Synchronize” in the top navigation bar, and your listings will be updated on the site.

Relist or sell Similar Items.

This long-awaited feature has now been added! You can Relist items or use the Sell Similar option in Turbo Lister by using the new buttons within the Listing Activity view.

More Time-Saving Options.

eBay have added the ability to “Find & Replace” text within your listings. In addition, you’ll be able to use Windows shortcuts to copy/paste information between views, and to export data from Turbo Lister to a spreadsheet program like Excel.

eBay will also be hosting a workshop to cover these new features and answer any questions on Thursday, May 3rd from 11:00 a.m. to noon Pacific time. This workshop is located at http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?threadID=1000483678

E-Gold Indicted for Money Laundering<

May 1st, 2007

Thanks to Bob Ellis for alerting me to this:

A federal grand jury in Washington, D.C. has indicted Egold and it’s owners on various charges relating to the illegal transmission of money.

US Dept. of Justice advice: http://www.usdoj.gov/opa/pr/2007/April/07_crm_301.html

For years I have recommended members stay away from e-gold and any program that only accepts gold based payment processors - I guess this proves the point!

Promote Your eBay Store Or Website Using Google Adwords For Free With This Loophole

I have found a very crafty and sneaky way to get free Google Adwords $50 Credit. You can start to advertise on Google right away after applying the $50 credit. I just did it myself and it showed up as just over £30 credit on my account within minutes. When it reaches zero I will just cancel the advertising campaign and sign up for a new adwords account using the link below with another email address.

Free advertising on google! Does it get any better?

This Google Adwords Credit is far better than the Google Adwords voucher codes being sold on ebay that have an expiry date & are only for one time usage. This Adwords Credit has no expiry date, & you can use it as many time as you want.

To claim your $50 Google Adwords Credit, please follow the instructions below:

1. Sign up a new Google Adwords account by following this link. Please do not use the same email address as in your current existing Google Adwords account, if you have any. If you did then google would trace you as being an existing customer rather than a new one.

2. When signing up a new Google Adwords account, Google want you to enter your Adwords content first before you can sign up. So be sure to have your Adwords content handy. If you do not have anything to advertise yet, just type anything in the title & content, & continue with the sign-up process. Once you have signed up, Google will send you an email to activate your account.

3. Check your email for Google Adwords activation email, then click the account activation’s link given by Google to activate your newly sign-up Adwords account.

4. Now, you have to login & update your billing methods by entering your credit card number. Once you have done that, you will be getting $50 credit immediately in your account (you can use the same credit card as you used in your previous sign-up of Google Adwords account, there’s no problem at all)

5. To check if you already have $50 credit in your account, go to My Account > Billing Summary, you will noticed that you already have a credit of $55 & $5 has been used for “Activation Fee”, you left $50 to use for your new Adwords campaign. Please note that Google will charge the difference to your credit card if your advertising fee has exceeded $50.

6. So, what now?? Of course to kick start your Adwords campaigns now & start making money online.

7. Important note! After your free credit has been used up your account will run into a debit balance and google would bill this to your card at the end of the month. It is therefore very important to log in and monitor your Google Adword’s balance regularly. As soon as you see the credit is gone you should cancel you Ad campaign and start the whole process over again with a new Google Adwords account.

$300 Google Adwords Credit, or even more…

The secret is, use the same link again to create 5 more Google Adwords account, you will then have $300 free Google Adwords Credit. What you need is, 5 more email addresses, because each Google Adwords account require 1 email address. You can still use the same credit card of cause, & Google will still give you $50 credit to each your newly created account.

Don’t just stop there, create even more Adwords account…. 10… or 20… just as many as you want!!! What you need is email addresses. You can actually sign up at yahoo mail as many as you want, & use it to create your Google Adwords account for free advertising credit.

I am not sure how long this offer will run for so be careful to check when visiting the link that the following text appears at the top of the page.

Special Offer for Yahoo! Small Business customers.
Try Google AdWords and receive a $50 free trial.

Are You STILL Conducting Business Without A Hosting Account? Are your competitors?

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen people limit their success just because they wouldn’t take the time to look into the benefits of a hosting account. Why in the world this happens is beyond me, but for some reason there will always be people content to scrape by while others do whatever they can to reach the top. I fall into the latter category and I have a feeling you do too.

So what is a hosting account and why do you need one?

If you want a personalized email address, to add extra images to your ebay auction for free, or you want to build a website, you need a hosting account to facilitate those tasks. Imagine an email address as being a car and a website being a house. The hosting account is the garage the car parks in and the land the house is built on. You can’t have one without the other.

Once you have a hosting account, you can register your very own domain name. You know what a domain name is - eBay.com, Yahoo.com and Google.com are all popular domain names. Isn’t it time your business had its own? Find a domain name that’s relevant to your business and register it. I would also recommend making it very similar to the ebay user id you are using to sell your products. This will make it easier for your customers to remember and find you.

Once you have a domain name, you can assign different email addresses to the email accounts included with your web hosting service. For instance, if your domain name was ebookexpress.com, you could set up your eBay email address to be your_name@ebookexpress.com. Not only will your email address clearly define what your business is about, but it will look a heck of a lot better and more professional than blahblahblah@yahoo.com or notaprofessional@hotmail.com.

You can also use your hosting account to add free images to your ebay auctions. The process to do this is pretty basic, and I will be happy to help you with it once you get things going.

Once you have a hosting account, you can build an ecommerce site to sell from. Integrate catalog and shopping cart functions and allow customers to buy directly from your website. This will enable you to generate an income outside of your eBay sales.

A lot of people put off getting a hosting account for a while because they’re concerned that it’s going to be overly complicated and that they’ll not fully understand it. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is one of the best decisions you could ever make, and one of the most affordable. Basically, if you can use the internet and navigate Windows, you can manage a hosting account.

Does this makes perfect sense to you?

Would you like to try out a hosting account without committing yourself?

I run a web hosting business and would like to offer you a totally free, no catch, 30 day trial of my web hosting services. Just visit www.emedia-webhosting.com to sign up for a free trial.

I will of course only ever be an email or a phone call away if you do need help with any aspect of using your hosting account.

13 Ways to Promote Your eBay Store And Get More Bids

If you are serious about making money on eBay you need to have an eBay store. This gives you your own unique URL that you can use to promote your store.

Now it doesn’t take a genius to work this formula out. More visitors = more sales.

Here are 13 easy ways to promote your eBay store and gain extra traffic that in turn will lead to more bids.

1. Make sure you provide a link to your eBay store from every auction you run. If someone is not interested in your auction they may be interested in something else you are selling in your eBay store.

Make sure you ask people to click on your link and many of them will. How many times have you seen the term ‘please view my other auctions’ or ‘visit my eBay store for more bargains’ I bet you’ve clicked on those links sometimes too? I know I have. It’s all about encouraging the person to do what you want. After all, if they don’t click on your link what have you lost? Nothing.

2. Include a simple email signature in all outgoing emails. Make sure you use a catchy headline to attract visitors. Again, ask people to click your link.

3. Include a link to your store in all winning bidder emails you send to your eBay customers. Just a simple line of text explaining you have many more quality items in your store will do.

4. If you use eBay to automatically invoice your customers make sure you mention your eBay store and provide a link.

5. If you take part in forum discussions and are allowed a signature make sure you provide a link to your eBay store in all forum posts you make.

6. Look for forums related to what you sell, offer advice and take part in discussions and make sure you mention your eBay store wherever possible.

7. If you can set up an auto responder for your customer emails have it say something like:- “Hi. Thanks for getting in touch, I have received your email and will respond soon” then include your signature.

8. Write at least one article per month related to your eBay business and include a link to your eBay store.

9. Create an eBay about me page and make sure you mention your eBay store. Again, ask people to click your link and they will.

10. Consider upgrading your store to the featured level. If you are a high volume seller the extra cost will be worth it.

11. Use eBay’s Cross Promotion Features - eBay provides store owners with cross-promotion features but most sellers don’t use them wisely. Make sure you are showing the right product to the right buyer at the right time. Ensure you are cross-promoting the proper items not only in your listings, but also in your Bid Confirmation and your Purchase Confirmation pages.

12. Let Your Store Promote Itself - eBay has a store search page that works very similar to a regular search engine that some eBay buyers will use. Others will use actual search engines such as Google, Yahoo, etc. Because of this, it’s important that you let your store promote itself by targeted keywords in the appropriate places:

- Your eBay Store name should describe what you are selling

- You are allowed to have up to 20 customized categories within your store. Use the keywords that your potential buyers will search for as your category names.

- Use keywords in your eBay store description that accurately describe what you are selling. Just be sure to insert them into your description in a way that’s user-friendly and doesn’t appear as blatant advertising.

13. Make Use Of The Email Marketing Tool eBay Provides - eBay’s Email Marketing feature allows you to build an opt-in customer list very cheaply. Encourage buyers to opt-in to your mailings by promoting your newsletters in your store and in all post transaction communications with buyers. Just ensure that you use the tool wisely and don’t send messages to your subscribers so frequently that they view your newsletters as Spam. Optimally, you shouldn’t send more than two or three newsletters a month.

There you have it, 13 simple steps to ensure you gain more visitors to your auctions. If you implement these steps into your eBay business you will receive more visitors and in turn more bids.

Do You Market With Business Cards?

You’ve probably heard it debated before whether or not online marketers need business cards. In fact, you may very well have SAID this before: “Oh, I don’t need business cards. I do all my business online.”

That seems like a pretty safe assumption, doesn’t it? After all, one of the advantages of conducting business online is the reduction in conventional paperwork and printing costs. If your prospect is in Australia and you’re in the United States (which is certainly possible over the Internet) the odds are pretty slim that you’re ever going to meet and exchange business cards.

However, like many assumptions, this particular one is worth examining more closely. Should you, as an online marketer, use business cards? Depends on your answer to these questions:

Is everybody who might possibly have an interest in your business currently online?

If yes, do they know how to find your website or eBay shop?

Will they be able to find your website or eBay shop six months from now?

Is your website or eBay shop getting all the traffic you can handle?

Does everyone you discuss your business with around town have a pen and paper handy so they can write down your website or eBay store address?

If the answer to ANY of these is “No”, you could use traditional printed business cards very profitably.

Business cards are among the most versatile, affordable, portable, and accepted marketing tools you can use. You meet people all the time at church, the grocery store, the school function, the trade show, and so on. One of the first questions you’re probably asked is “So, what do you do for a living?” You tell the person about your online business, right?

Now ask yourself this. Suppose you spell out your URL for your eBay shop or website. Do you think they’ll remember it after the game or after the meeting, when they get back to their computer and actually have a few minutes to go check it out? Not much chance.

And say your product or service intrigues them, but they have no need of it now. Could they find your eBay shop or website again in a few weeks or a few months? Maybe, if they remembered to bookmark your it. No guarantees, though. And they probably won’t bookmark your site anyway if they don’t anticipate the need for your product or service in the near future.

So a business card would sure be a handy way to give that person your URL. And if your URL changes, they might even be able to find you the old-fashioned way (through your postal address or phone number!).

A business card is also a terrific way to generate more interest in your eBay shop or website, simply because there are so many ways to prospect creatively with business cards. You can tuck a card with your URL on it in all your “snail mail” correspondence. You can introduce yourself with your card. You can tuck your card in related books at the library. You can post your card on bulletin boards. And you can hand your card directly to that really hot prospect you just met, with a big sincere smile and a firm handshake.

Finally, like it or not, having a business card “legitimises” your business in some people’s eyes. It’s concrete evidence that your business is real and that you take it seriously.

So do you, as an online marketer, need business cards? Only if you want more business.

Designing an attention-getting card:

Keep it simple and legible, with plenty of “white space”. If you overcrowd the card, it won’t get read. The most basic info is your name, your company name, and your phone number (which should be in bold text or a larger size, if there are other numbers on the card.)

Add a photo if you’re in a “relationship” business (such as real estate, counseling, or law). This is also helpful if you do business in other countries, where your gender may not be apparent from your first name. Did you know that business cards with photos are less likely to be thrown away, and more likely to be placed on top of any pile of cards?

Use colour wisely. Some blues, browns, and oranges don’t fax or copy well; ditto for dark coloured cards and those printed on super-bright stock. An inexpensive way to liven up your card is to use coloured ink on coloured stock - try burgundy ink on ivory or gray stock, or brown ink on beige stock.

Print on both sides of the card. Add company hours, product benefits, a map, a discount coupon, or such useful information as a table of weights and measures or calendar.

Business cards are fabulous marketing tools, so make them stand out. For example you could have embossing, colour, or artwork on your business card. You could also have a fold-over business card where the front has your name, address, and phone number, and when it opens up, it becomes a mini-brochure. People appreciate having the complete information right on one small item along with the convenience of a business card. The important thing to remember is that your business card must convey your identity and the main benefit your product or service delivers.

Prospecting creatively with business cards:

The way you present your card has far more to do with your success than your card itself. (Thank goodness!) Presenting your card with both hands, for example, creates an enormous psychological impact (”Hey, this must be important!”) If you can’t seem to find a suitable moment to give your card to someone you feel could be a great prospect, ask for his or her card. (In fact, ask for two or three. Tell them you want extras to distribute to people you know.) Odds are, they’ll ask for your card in return.

Introduce yourself with your card. Hand your card to the receptionist at the doctor’s office, the hostess at the restaurant, or the technician at the auto repair shop.

You should always give people more than 1 card. One for themselves and some for for people they meet.

Influential, well respected or popular people you know. It’s especially important to mention your business to these people and if possible insure that they carry a few of your cards in there wallet. Be careful not to overdo it though as you don’t want people to cross the road when they see you coming! I always ask taxi drivers if I can leave a few cards on their dashboard knowing full well that passengers in the taxi will be likely to ask the driver what the cards are about. Of course during my taxi ride I ensure that the taxi driver is fully trained to promote my business!

Include your card with all correspondence. Enclose your card when you return rented goods, everything from tools to videotapes to automobiles (especially if it’s a luxury model!)

Refer business to others. Offer to include the cards of business people you respect with your mailings, if they’ll agree to do the same with yours. Join a business-networking group.
